Data Integration for the masses - Get to your data and use it now.

Data integration is the process of moving and combining data across the information system. It typically consists of extracting data from different sources (databases, files, applications, Web Services, emails, etc.), applying transformations (joins, lookups, de-duping, calculations, cleansing, etc.) and sending the resulting data to target systems. These types of applications can be either batch oriented, processing large number of records at once, or transaction oriented, processing each record individually in near-real time passing it to downstream systems. If you have data in one place and need it somewhere else a tool like Talend Open Studio can help you achieve the desired results. From large teams building a real-time enterprise data warehouse, to the single user who just needs to process a flat file and load it into a database, Open Studio can help you get the job done in record time. Talend Open Studio is graphical design environment that allows you to specify your data integration requirements visually, run the process interactively, or schedule and deploy it to run on another machine. The design environment is used to define the data sources and targets and the process flow, and includes a sophisticated drag-and-drop mapping tool to map your data elements. Behind the scenes, Open Studio generates either Java or Perl along with the necessary SQL (if necessary) to perform the actual data movement and transformations you defined in the design environment. There are over 250+ connectors available out of the box. RDBMS: Oracle, MySQL, DB2, SQL Server, Sybase, Ingres, PostgreSQL -- Business Applications: SugarCRM, SalesForce.com, LDAP -- Web: Web Services, FTP, HTTP, POP, SMTP ---Files:Delimited, positional, XML, Excel, Logs? And thanks to our very active developer community and the "ecosystem" the list is constantly growing. This HOWTO session will cover three basic scenarios: 1) How to build a simple data flow: read in a flat file, cleanse some data elements, and write the output to any relational database. 2) How to use lookups, web services, and other advanced features of Open Studio. 3) How export your job and use it outside of Open Studio as a java or perl application or as a web service. FREE IPOD NANO!!! Talend is giving away an Ipod Nano to a random conference attendee, if you can't make the session to register, send an email to Thomas Cook at tcook@talend.com with the subject line, "Utah Nano" and we will add you to the drawing. Talend, the first provider of open source data integration software, leverages the open source model to make data integration available to all types of organizations, regardless of their size, level of expertise or budgetary constraints. Talend's solutions connect to all source and target systems and they can be downloaded at no cost. Talend also offers data quality solutions, fully complementary to its data integration solutions. The company is a founding member of the Open Solutions Alliance (OSA), an industry group that promotes the use of standards-based open source products in the enterprise.
