To succeed, a HOWTO needs to actually address the needs of your readers. We have all read HOWTOs that provided little help at all. Writing a good HOWTO requires the following: * Consider your audience and write with them in mind * Follow the proper format and style * Readability is key * Address likely questions * Keep it updated

Grant Sperry (XMission)
Grant has been at XMission since 1996, originally working as the company webmaster and technical writer. For many years, he was the technical support manager. More recently, he is VP of operations, overseeing managers and their projects. Back in 2000, Grant supervised the design and construction of XMission's data center and colocation facility. Before working at XMission, Grant earned a Masters degree in English at the University of Utah. He then taught English and technical writing at SLCC for 3 years before getting wrapped up in the Internet world.
